Theatre Music Editions is able to undertake commissions - if you have a need for a reduced orchestration to suit your requirements, either as a modification of one of the existing orchestral reductions, or for an opera not currently in the Theatre Music Editions repertoire, contact Theatre Music Editions to discuss your needs.
Who needs orchestral reductions?
Small opera groups and touring companies face a difficult decision: to perform with a full orchestra, to 'thin out' the orchestration for a smaller number of players, or to use a piano alone.
Theatre Music Editions' carefully crafted 'chamber orchestrations' have been successfully used for a number of years in a variety of venues. They retain much of the composer's orchestral colour whilst shifting the emphasis from a large orchestral timbre to a chamber sound. I believe that many other companies may be able to benefit from the work I have put in to these reorchestrations, so I am making these practical editions available for the first time to other opera companies.
